Poverty Crisis

Almost one billion (1,000,000,000) people around the world are forced to survive on less than $1 per day ($365/year), and three billion (40% of the world) survive on less than $2 per day ($730/year).

The poorest 40% of the world accounts for only 5% of global income, while the wealthiest 20% account for 75% of global income.

Approximately 1.6 billion people do no have access to electricity.

884 million do not have access to clean water.

There are approximately 2.2 billion children worldwide with 1 billion of them living in poverty.

640 million children live without adequate shelter, with more than 100 million of those being considered as “street children”.
