Alberto & Ana Alcantara

Pastors, Dominican Republic

Jose Alberto Alcantara was born on December 4th 1989 in Santo Domingo. He was not raised in a Christian home. At the age of 7 he was selected by a sponsorship program in the Dominican Republic. It was during his time in this program that people shared with him the love of Jesus.

When Alberto was 14 years old he accepted Christ and was baptized. During those years in the sponsorship program, in addition to learning about Christ and starting a relationship with Him, he developed a passion to serve and work with kids.

In December 2010 Alberto met his wife Ana Patricia and one year later they were married. Together, Alberto and Ana started a church in their community and started sharing Christ’s love for them. Many people came to Christ at their church.

Alberto and Ana have three children, Anabel, Josue, and Abigail.

One of the things that have been really powerful for Alberto and Ana is to see how much talent the children of Villa Laura and Batey Lecheria have. They have worked with the children to help them use their talents to honor God.

One of Alberto’s favorite chapters in the Bible is Psalm 46:

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells. God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at the break of day. Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall; he lifts his voice, the earth melts. The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Come and see what the Lord has done, the desolations he has brought on the earth. He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth. He breaks the bow and shatters the spear; he burns the shields with fire. He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. He thinks we should not have fear if God is with us.”

Ana Patricia Rodriguez was born on May 8th, 1987, in San Cristobal. She grew up in a Christian home, and she developed her relationship with Christ at the age of 9 when she had a vision. Ana met Alberto at a wedding celebration on December 20th, 2010 and one year later they were married. Once married, they began to attend church together in Santo Domingo. Eventually, they become leaders and started disciplining kids at their church. Later, they were called to be pastors of the church.

One of Ana’s favorite Bible verse is:

“Haven’t I commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Don’t be afraid. Don’t be dismayed, for Yahweh your God is with you wherever you go.”Joshua 1:9

Ana says this is a reminder that no matter the circumstances in her life, she knows that God is with her.

Alberto and Ana met Elizabeth at a prayer group. At one point Elizabeth felt led to ask them to become part of the 25 Project Ministry. They agreed to visit the ministry center and they were greatly impacted to see how the kids worshiped the Lord. They immediately received confirmation by the Holy Spirit to join and help to spread the Gospel to the kids in our ministry.
